Angels, Miss Finesse had the pleasure of chatting with actors Kevin Kline and Richard Jenkins at the screening of the East Coast Premiere of Darling Companion at The Miami International Film Festival. The script was written by Miami-born Lawrence Kasdan and his wife Meg.

Angels, the movie was charming and witty with a fantastic A-list cast.  The storyline revolves around Beth (played by Diane Keaton) who rescues an injured dog she spots from the interstate and names the dog “Freeway”. Much to the dismay of her surgeon husband (played by Kevin Kline) Freeway becomes a valuable part of their family… little do they know that the dog ends up rescuing them.  Angels, make sure you find a way to see this sweet movie.

Angels, the opening night of this year’s Miami International Film Festival was extravagent! The world premiere of the film Mariachi Gringo was incredible! The talented team of screenplay writer Cory James Krueckeberg and Director Tom Gustafson made a film as smooth as a shot of Patron tequila. Icy-hot actor Shawn Ashmore (Iceman in X-Men) did an incredible and convincing job in the role of the “gringo” who follows his dream of becoming a mariachi while Lila Downs illuminated the film with an absolutely splendid performance.

The red carpet was buzzing with celebrities including The Real Housewives of Miami, Tom Gustafson, Cory James Krueckeberg, Shawn Ashmore, Lila Downs and many more.  I’ve posted an interview with Shawn Ashmore and Tom Gustafson for you to check out. The opening night party at the historic Dupont Building was sponsored by Patron and was fantequilatastic! What a night to remember angels.

Angels, Miss Finesse had the priviledge of chatting with portrait photographer Timothy Greenfield-Sanders’s about his newest HBO documentary About Face: The Supermodels Then and Now. Angels, Timothy delivered a spectacular and real documentary. Kudos to Timothy for having the gift of being able to effortlessly extract truth from his subjects. Carol Alt was at the screening and I must say that she is the perfect example of aging gracefully.  She looked fabulous and exuded a confidence that only maturity can harvest.

My favorite scene in the film is when Sanders asks 80-year old veteran model Carmen Dell’Orefice (who is still in high demand) what she thinks of plastic surgery.  Angels, her reply had Miss Finesse and the audience in hysterics. Carmen nonchalantly answers, “well if you had the ceiling falling down in your living room, would you not go and have it repaired”.  Love her!

Check, Please! Starts New Season: Hakkasan, Hy Vong, and a Female Impersonator

​​Michelle Bernstein returns to host Check, Please!, the popular WPBT program where everybody is a critic. There will be an updated graphic opening, a revamped logo, new theme music (I can’t remember the last theme song), and most importantly, new restaurants to critique.

This season’s guest reviewers include a South Beach model, a Palm Beach financier, a golf caddy from Hollywood and Miss Finesse, a local female impersonator. Insert your own punchline.

So season seven begins Monday, January 23 at 7:30 p.m.; episodes repeat same time on Wednesdays and at 5:30 each Saturday.
